Buying a house with a buying agent

When you want to buy a house you will need a buying agent to help you with finding your dream home and to help you acquire it. Especially when you’re looking for a new home abroad, in a new and unfamiliar country, a buying agent can help you find your way in a market and region they know thoroughly.  

How to buy a house in the Netherlands 

If you have worked and lived in the Netherlands you may be eligible to buy a house! However, there are a lot of things to consider. A house can increase and decrease in value over time, which makes buying a house a process where risk is involved. 

When you want to buy a house you have to know what you are looking for. Do you want to move in immediately or are you willing to do renovations? Where do you want to live? Is a garden desirable? How about a garage? You need to have an idea of this before you start looking.  

The process of buying a house 

When you know what kind of house you are looking for, the search can begin! These are the seven steps that comprise the buying process.

1. Finding a suitable property  
2. Attend viewings  
3. Carry out further negotiations  
4. Negotiate  
5. Sign the sale agreement  
6. Finance your property  
7. Go to the notary 

A local buying agent knows their field of activity and can assist in finding the perfect home for you. They can give advice and they can look for homes based on your criteria. As a tip, though, we advise you to see a registered mortgage adviser first so you know exactly what you can borrow.
